Lets face it, they make good shit and chase different business than glock does. Hell, hk doesnt need a poster with R. Lee Ermy saying "this is my glock!!!1!!" to sell products to all the neckbeards shopping at ctd.

I wonder how aggressive HK is in keeping problems quiet?

I recently had a Glock 23 come apart on me at the range. Factory Federal 180 grain bullets too. After calling up Glock, they had me send them the gun. We'll see what they do. Ended up destroying the barrel (It's split), the trigger, and the mag release is gone.

After doing some research after this happened, apparently Glock 40 cals are notorious for doing this. If they replace the gun when I get it back, I'm going to get rid of the gun. When the gun came apart, it felt like someone whacked my fingers and palm of my hand with a hammer.

Would be why you do the research first. Had a buddy that picked up a SIG that came with some reloads, and he wont be shooting someone else reloads ever again.

Glock 40's do blow up a lot. Ask Matt.

I cannot find the pic, but I'm sure I have one somewhere. It just buckled the polymer handle and you could see daylight between the handle and slide. Sucked.

The gunsmith that he took it to swore that he would have been hurt bad if the gun was metal instead of polymer, but I think there are too many variables. He's lucky. He was not hurt at all.

This was about 1992 or so, I think...

I bought some reloads from a gun show many years ago. They were the shittiest loads I've ever seen in my life. Now that i know reloading - I still to this day cannot understand how he fucked them up that bad. I had bullets bouncing off the grass and flying all over the place. I really would not recommend reloads from gunshows.. either they don't know what they are doing, or they just don't care to do it right.

I'm always a little cautious of complaints on the Internet anyway. Especially with something popular - even a small percentage of complaints can seem like a lot and it easier to find bad stuff about any product. A lot of folks don't go all out to recommend products.

i.e. I know personalities on this board and even though I'm a Glock fan - I would not buy a 40 caliber Glock now. However, just random griping on a board may not be enough for me to believe them. I've bought things that people complained about and had low ratings - without issues.

The Gen II Glock .40s had an unsupported chamber and had a propensity for blowing up.

Back in '98 or '99 I was shooting a buddy's .40 at the river and the chamber exploded. The magazine shot straight down and the frame was bent. There was no chamber whatsoever left.

I sent it to Glock and even though I was shooting Winchester White Box ammo, they claimed I was shooting reloads and refused to warranty the gun even though it was a well known problem. The best they would do was send me a brand new gun with mags, case and kit for $230. They said that was cost to manufacture the guns and ship them to Smyrna, GA.

So, my buddy got a brand new Glock at my expense since I was behind the trigger when it happened.

It was his gun, however you paid for it? And he let you? Doesn't sound like a very good buddy, dear chap.

oh god Im growing to hate HK

Glock controls 60% of the handgun market, HK is over price and might control 6%

If I wrecked his car, I'd take care of repairs.

I'll never know, but $230 is nothing when it comes to a guy that has been a good friend for 15 years at that time. He's that guy that if I needed to be pulled out of a ditch, jump start, help moving, or any other problem, he's there.

He's my "shit hits the fan, go-to guy".
