That is someone who doesn't know shit about guns at all.
Hell there was a guy yesterday on either THR or defensive carry asking how to get 4 stuck rounds out of his 10/22 barrel. I told him to sell it and invest in some pepper spray

yeah that's probably a good idea. There are some dumb people out there. But I don't wanna be too vocal, I could very well blow some of my shit up one day, with as much as I shoot and reload it's bound to happen eventually.

so just to clarify what happened here, that initial round was probably from a squib round right? i guess the primer worked but the powder didn't so it only had enough force to send the projectile forward until friction got the best of it leaving it stuck in the barrel.

but in this picture, this person got 5 squib rounds in a row???

luckily for them they were a consistently bad reloader because if any of those rounds 2 through 5 went like they should, that could have banana peeled that barrel... actually since that is a short barrel, explode rather than split.

first round was a squib, subsequent were probably full power rounds that hit traffic. If you look at the last round, it's bulged that barrel. That's a really heavy barrel so it took it. Cylinder gap on revolvers is a little more forgiving on pressures in that situation.

Question: Once something like that happens, can it be fixed? I'm just curious.

Edit: Not bulging the barrel, I know it's junk now, but I mean if you caught it after the squib.

Yes, it can be "fixed." The bullet can be tapped back through the barrel into the chamber.

Most squibs, like if it's just a primer and no powder, won't have enough power to actually get the bullet into the barrel enough to cycle (in a semi-auto, the slide won't cycle, and when you manually cycle it, you won't be able to get the slide closed because the bullet prevents the round from fully chambering; in a revolver, the cylinder won't rotate).

The only difference is the type of squib. A short powdered round will more than likely enter the barrel (I agree a primer only most likely will not and would lock up) and in a revolver it will continue to rotate, causing the problem you saw above. In a semi auto the shooter would have to rack the slide.

I have had an AK squib on me before. It short cycled so I checked the barrel.

Sure enough, I tapped the round out with a cleaning rod and it kept shooting.

There's a lot of ground to be covered on the way to and fro.

The only one I've ever seen is a Glock 21. We were young and dumb, and a good friend thought he had a misfire, did not clear the barrel, racked the slide, and created carnage. I cannot find the pic, but I'm sure I have one somewhere. It just buckled the polymer handle and you could see daylight between the handle and slide. Sucked.

The gunsmith that he took it to swore that he would have been hurt bad if the gun was metal instead of polymer, but I think there are too many variables. He's lucky. He was not hurt at all.

This was about 1992 or so, I think...

The only squib I've seen from factory loaded ammo is russian surplus. 7.62x25, 5.45x39, and 7.62x39.
