    I bet the soldiers in west germany were happy to see the program die, haha.

    That gun was a spectacular failure. It did work, but the German govt promised they would adopt it, then reunification happened and HK nearly went bankrupt as a result (they proverbially put all their eggs in that basket).

      The thing about the G11 that is so interesting is how amazing the design was, and how fucking terribly ugly the gun was. I can tell you right now, there wasn't a single aesthetic design engineer on that entire team. There wasn't even one at a board meeting or within 1000 feet of the plant.



      It looks like a plano rifle case with a pistol grip.
