Shooting it off your shoulder or from the hip, one should not have TRex arms.

Ode to the M60, the first and best general purpose machinegun.

My experience which is nothing more than fucking around with one while walking through the woods and hunting pigs, it's awkward in carrying and length. Friend in service expressed the same.

Originally posted by DOHCTR View PostDunno man, I suppose that is possible but I have always heard pre-m60 firearms reffered to as GPMGs, notable the mg42 and 34."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

Only America would designate a machine designed to kill people as efficiently as possible as something so benign as "General Purpose."
I used "as" 4 times in the same sentence."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I shot the M240G a lot in the Marines and recently fired a M240L. When I pulled the L out of the Humvee the SGT could see the look on my face was a "what the fuck". "Yep, they have lightened it up since you were in". I could tell
Mounted the M240B is still used which weighs in at 27.6 pounds
Word is Barret has gotten the weight down below 20 with titanium and collapsing butt-stocks with the M240LW. And even made the gun more comfortable to over the shoulder carry when not in a combat role.
Now the Army in its infinite wisdom did give me a shooter for my uparmored Suburban and Excursion back in 2006 that was assigned a M240B. Yep, that is not gonna work, you need to turn that into the armory or borrow an M4 or at the least a SAW. Can you picture a Joe in full kit with a fucking M240 getting the front seat of a suburban that already has the door openings shortened by the armor? Just fucking silly.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.
