                          I went to my step brother's wife's fathers house His name is Bob. He's in his 60's and a retired LTC from the Army. I went in his library (fucking museum) and looked around. His Grandfather served in WWI and Bob had quite a bit of his things including his original purple heart which Bob claims is one of the very first ones issued. He had a german helmet, the kind with the spike on top as well as the green "field cover" for it. It was in phenomenal shape for being about 100 years old. I was blown away with this stuff. Then he pulls out his Gpa's 1911, notice it's not an A1. He had it in the original green cover. Not really a holster but more of a wrapper. He also had the original magazine which was half blued. Pretty mother fucking cool.

                            It definitely looks early. Wood grips are a dead giveaway it isn't an A1. Also the stampings of course.

What I wouldnt give to have some hand me downs like that. My dad says his mom threw away 2 1911's my grandpa brought back. Fucking put them in the garbage.

                                That is fucking terrible. I have my grandfathers A1 and it's in exceptional condition. I have always felt grateful the chain of events allowed it to end up in my safe.
