Usually about 50% of the time the primer blows back and drops into the FCG and ends up under the trigger, causing it to stick back. Requiring the entire gun to be disassembled. That's why they crimp nato 5.56mm, because in the super rare situation a primer gets blown, there's a high likelihood it will render the weapon useless and you'll have to completely tear the rifle down to fix it."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

So I don't reload. When you say the brass is/was overworked, is that to say that each casing has a lifespan (number or shots)? Is it all basically junk now? Can you go back and stake the primers on a case that has this issue? I know I'm not going to fix it either way since I don't have a reloading setup but if it's salvageable I would at least like to give it all to someone capable of resolving the issue (for a 12 pack or something)

Yes you can rig the cases to hold primers, but it's a lot of work. You have to make a steel mandrel to fit inside the mouth of the case, and you slide the case down onto the mandrel, so it's supporting the head of the case. Then you place a large steel ball bearing on the empty primer pocket, and you smash the ever loving shit out of the ball bearing with a dead blow. It causes the primer pocket to pinch in, reducing the diameter of the pocket slightly. I've done this before and it just isn't worth the work. The truth is cases are cheap, what I would do personally is just pull the bullets and save them. Chances are he's using WC844 powder (ball powder) which you could reuse also if you can identify it, but I would only do that if we're talking 1000+ rounds.
That's really weird your BCG was jammed. I assume it was stuck in the locked position? Generally a blown primer won't cause issues like that, the case is held back against the bolt with the extractor, when the BCG returns to the rear, the ejector will pop the case out and the primer will fall down into the FCG (usually). It sounds like you're having some headspace issues. Do the rounds ever jam without firing it? You chamber a round and the bolt sticks, hard to unlock?"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I always find it amusing how much effort people put into making glocks appear not boring."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
