  • RCBS .223 X-dies or AR series?

I'm just getting into this reloading deal and can't decide between the RCBS AR dies or the X-dies, I will be reloading 223 both for plinking in my standard ARs and target shooting with higher quality bullets in my bull barreled AR. What are yalls thoughts.

Right now Midway has the X-dies on clearance.

I've got a Lyman two die .223 set made by rcbs. Never used.

I'll sell the dies with 1k small rifle primers and around 150rds of .223 brass for $45 total picked up in Carrollton. Everything except the powder! Cheap too. Lol

As tempting as that is I think the 600 mile round trip to pick them up will screw up the economics on them lol. I've already got a good source for brass and bought a couple thousand primers, but I do appreciate the offer.

I'm leaning towards the X dies to cut back on trimming.

I have an RCBS x-die, only ran about 1000 rds through it. I'll sell it to you for $20 if you're interested.

Is it the 2 die set? Did they work good?

Just keep in mind X dies require a bit more of initial sizing than typical or small base dies.

Yeah, I never had to resize any case that went through them. You just have to make sure every case is trimmed properly or within spec before you run them through it. It's just the resizing die, make me an offer if you like. I don't need it anymore because I have an automated trimmer, so everything gets trimmed no matter what, no longer necessary. It's more suited to someone who trims each case individually, because it saves you time.

The seating die would cost me $27 by itself and midway has the 2 die set on clearance for $34. I appreciate the offer, but just save yours and cut a deal for the next person who is trying to get into reloading.
