    Girlfriends Birthday Present

    Pretty sure my girlfriend hinted around about a Kindle Fire or something. So..... I put a cheap plinker together for her instead, I don't think she will see it coming. A buddy stopped by a couple weeks ago asking if I knew anyone interested in a Glenfield Model 60 (Marlin). I asked how much and he said "50 bucks", I said "I'll take it". Looked like it had had a zillion rounds through it without even considering cleaning it. So I busted it down, cleaned everything, hand filed the receiver where the charging handle had eaten into from the bolt buffer being obliterated over the years. Dropped all the metal off to my local friend to cerakote black, ordered a cheap ATI gray stock ($45 with free shipping direct from ATI), dropped it off on Tuesday so he could add some pink and brown with the gray, and picked it all up this morning so I could assemble it for her B-Day in the morning. I picked up a tactile charging handle ($23), new bolt buffer ($17), and a cheap set of UTG scope rings ($15.95), all from ebay, threw a fixed 4x Redfield off my old Savage 243 left bolt I sold a while back, and I'm going to give her either a 100 pack or 333 box of .22 to go with it. She works as a ZMS at Walmart and I've been on her to keep on the Sporting Goods people when .22 comes in so I can get some when it's in stock. So far she's failed to and I'm hoping this will help remind her. I've got about $150 in it and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. Susan enjoys shooting so I figured I'd get something that would be hers.

    That cerakote job looks like it could have been done 1000 times better.

        It was quick and free, I wasn't expecting anything more than removing what was left of the bluing, the rust, and protecting the metal mostly.

            Hold up. You have an early Glenfield, and ditched the squirrel stock for that plastic abortion? Fail, sir.

              That's some nice looking stuff Probie.

              I still have the squirrel stock lol, I knew she'd like pistol grip portion of the ATI.
