I finally got my 650 running right

I finally got the damn thing worn in, only took a few thousand rounds but it's now working like it should. After half a day of paying our dues we were able to achieve sizing/trimming 2,000 at cases an hour with a physical limitation, and 2,400/hr mechanical limitation (as per our highly scientific testing).



Next is a bullet feeder and then we're in business.



I suggest turning down your volume for this one, the air is quite loud.

I've never reloaded rifle cartridges before, do you have to trim them like that each time you reload them? Can you explain/expand on how the setup in the video works?

I miss my old 650, never should have sold it. Now I have to buy another one and this time I'll just keep it forever.

You don't necessary have to trim every case every time, but for high volume you want to trim as much as you can within spec so you can assure the crimp falls on the cannelure the same for every round. I use two tool heads, one of them is a resizing die in the first stage, trimmer in the third stage which hits each mouth with a high speed cutting head and there is a vacuum outside my shop which runs through a panel in the window to pull the brass shavings out of the machine. I'll be adding a primer pocket swage to stage two here shortly. My loading toolhead does not have a resizing die, only prime, charge, charge check, bullet seat, case crimp.

CJ do you crimp all of your rifle ammo or just stuff that will be in a semi auto platform? I've never crimped anything besides pistol ammo, even my garand ammo wasn't crimped and I never had any sign of bullet movement.

If you need brass to work with get with me about it. I bid on government auctions for scrap; the last time I won an auction for brass it was 69,000lbs of lake cities 7.62x51 and I suspect that it is worth more as processed brass then as scrap.

It certainly is if you can prep it in high volume. I would be interested in buying in large quantities from you next time you have some for sure.
