  • NFA Poly Pistol

I picked up this New Frontier arms poly lower about 6 months ago. I spent a good deal of time cleaning it up, primarily the mag well so that my p-mags would release like they should. I need to pick up a battle mag and see how well they work.

As I was cleaning the lower up, I decided to build it into a pistol. The low weight of the lower I felt would lend itself to a fun platform.

I plan to have it finished up by the end of the year. I had planned on picking up a pistol buffer from fortweb.com however, after they didn't respond to any communication I went in search of another option. I liked the fortweb unit for the gusseted mount for strength. I ultimately decided on a Quentin defense buffer tube. A look at their website and they were no longer listed. A phone call explained why. They are dedicating their machining ability to lowers due to demand. The guy I spoke with found one in the warehouse to sell me. This thing seems pretty beefy. Anyway, on to the pictures. Once my new end plate arrives, I will put the lower together for good. It is. Cheap tapco with a sling loop.

      NFA Poly Pistol

      What's the NFA part?

Edit. Mfg I see now. I have a polymer pistol right now a friend needs to pick up. I don't like them, but it is light.

What don't you like about it?

I just don't get the pistol in rifle caliber thing. Overly big and bulky. Id just assume to build an SBR or a full rifle.

Gotcha. Its more of a novelty I guess. That and I haven't wanted to spend the $$$ to register for a SBR. Now that I am making a decent wage, I need to get a trust set up.

I would first build that gun before you file a form 1 on a polymer lower. Make sure you want to own that lower receiver forever.

This brand name confuses me. Especially since Phaux (the advertiser) made an NFA lower out of an NFA lower.

My PSA blemished stripped upper showed up tonight. not bad for $40 and the only blemish I can find is some inconsistency on the coating inside. T markings are clear as well. The area of the rear takedown pin in the poly lower is a little narrow for the upper receiver. It takes quite a bit of pressure to get it to seat. This may be a pain in the @$$ when it is time to do regular maintenance. I am not sure yet if I will work the area with a file to make them easier to separate or not.

I plan to pick up the odds and ends this week, forward assist, ejection port cover, gas tube, etc.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a decent middle of the road 7.5" barrel?

I would like to build out one of my two NFA Ploy lowers into a .22lr pistol.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I just completed a pistol build using Phase 5 Tactical parts. Check out their gas tube...

I have seen the pigtail gas tubes. Not a fan of the price tag. Are the issues caused by the shorter gas tube major issues?

This will probably all get transferred over to one of the GB lowers when they arrive, however, for the present time, I am trying to finish the build and have some fun. Black Friday (week) has not been nice to my savings account.

Primary Arms red dot with mount
                              gas tube
                              upper build kit
                              low pro gas block
                              samson evo rail (7.6")
RedX arms 7.5" 5.56 SS barrel

Tomorrow I'm going to order the levang and I will be done. I plan to pull the bolt and CH from my rifle to test the pistol out and see how it shoots.
