Has anyone done it? with sulfur or cerrosafe?

I am getting mixed opinions on which to use....only need it to identify what cartridge the chamber is so the short term life of the sulfur would be fine and it is quicker and easier to get....

They make specific kits for casting chamber's, why not use one of those?

yes...thats the cerrosafe. Have to order it and costs more, was about to order dies and found out there are three options: .25/.223 std, .25/.223 30 AI and .25/.223 40 AI. Sulfur I can do right now, the main problem with it is if you overheat it will ignite and stink!!! More searching tells me I can avoid that problem by using my heat gun instead of an open flame and it won't get hot enough to ignite. There is also a problem if you get the cerrosafe in the lugs....way harder to clean it out than sulfur.

That does make things more difficult. You could form a piece of 223 brass in the chamber and then take measurements.

ok, used the sulfur on an upper I forgot about in the safe. Supposed to be a 6.8 spc, had a 6.8 bolt in it but won't chamber a 6.8 case. Bought cheap at a gun show a couple years ago....

Heated sulfur in ladle with heat gun and poured thru nylon funnel and fuel hose (sulfur melts way less temp than boiling water) into chamber (plugged with paper towel wad just above chamber)...and overfilled the damn thing. Good thing I didn't use the cerrosafe as they say it is a bitch to get out of the lugs! I just heated the chamber area up a little with the heat gun and poured the excess sulfur out after I removed the casting. It took a little more force with the cleaning rod since it was overfilled but less than a stuck case.

Measurements were dead on for a .338 Spectre!!! which uses a 6.8 bolt and is a 10mm case necked down to .338.

And now I need ANOTHER set of dies......about to do the .25/.223 next, hopefully without overfilling!!

The spectre sounds like fun, kinda like a 357 on steroids with a slightly bigger bullet.

Yea, the spectre should be a fun one!

Slightly overfilled the 25/223 also...I think a turkey baster would work better allowing you to see the liquid going in and controlling it more. Cleanup wasn't bad though, turned out to be the standard 25/223, not the AI. I figured it was but didn't want to take a chance on a $85 set of dies....

Should still be a fun round. What bullets are you looking to run?

prolly start with 250gr in the spectre and 100gr in the 25/223. I think I have some Sierra 338's I load in my 338 win mag and some partitions I load in my 25-06.
