I just sent him an e-mail offering him 65 for all of the 9mm. We'll have to see if he bites. And CJ, I appreciate you offering to pick it up and ship it to me. I'll let you know what he says.

Newbie here. I am looking to load .45ACP, 9mm Luger, & .357 Magnum (the last two are for a friend). I will be purchasing at the end of the month or more likely mid March.
I will likely be making a purchase from Montana Gold (bullets) & Powder Valley (powder & primer). MG is being chosen for their price point and reputation for accuracy on MANY forums. These bullets are NOT for SD as they do not expand well. I cannot do uncovered lead rounds as my indoor range does not allow them. In addition, JHP's seem to shoot a little more accurately (because the center of gravity has been moved back a little bit because of the hollow point).
********
I will likely purchase 1 case of .45ACP (.451 230gr JHP). I will purchase a second case that I only need 1000 out of. 900 would be available for a group buy. Each case is $300 shipped and has 1900 bullets ($.1579/round). Cost of the 900 .45ACP bullets is $142.11 ($.1579/round) + shipping (only applicable if you do not live in DFW - may or may not fit in a small USPS box, but will definitely fit in a med USPS box). If there is enough interest, 3 cases drops down to $295 per case shipped ($.1552/round).
I will likely purchase 1 case of 9mm (.355 115 gr JHP). I only need 2000 so would have 2000 out of this order availalble as a part of a group buy. The cost of the 2000 would be $151.50 ($0.07575/round) + shipping (only applicable if you do not live in DFW - may or may not fit in a small USPS box, but will definitely fit in a med USPS box)
Unfortunatley, MG does not carry .357 bullets so I would am researching base place to find that bullet.
I would love to purchase from Zero Bullets, but they are currently out of stock everywhere and from what I have been told, they can weeks if not MONTHs behind schedule in production. Berry's does NOT carry JHPs so they are out as well.
********
I will also be placing an order with Powder Valley for Primers & Powder. The $25 HazMat fee is placed on one order regardles of size. I will split the the Hazmat Fee & Shipping based on Percentage Weight of the components.
I am looking to purchase 8lbs of Winchester 231 for .45ACP & .357 Magnum
I am looking to purchase 4lbs of Winchester (WST - Winchester Super Target) for 9mm Luger
I am looking to purchase 5 boxes (1000 per box @ $25/box) of Winchester WLP Large Pistol Primer for .45ACP
I am looking to purchase 2 boxes (1000 per box @ $25/box) of Winchester WLP Small Pistol Primer for 9mm Luger
I am looking to purchase 2 boxes (1000 per box @ 25/box) of Winchester WLP Small Magnum Pistol Primer for .357 Magnum
Powder Valley has a special going on. 5k Tula Primers and you get free shipping on Primers + 45lbs of additional items with no additional shipping costs, but still have to pay the HazMat fee. 10k Tula Primrs and you get free shipping and no HazMat fee for primers + 40lbs of additional items with no additional shipping costs. I will not be buying any Tula Primers so this order does not qualify.
If there IS interest in Tula Primers (same as Wolf Brand Primers, different packaging), check the PV website for pricing (ex: Tula Large Pistol Primer is $20/1000, Tula Small Pistol Primer is $20/1000). This is their February Special. Historically their monthly specials only go till a week before the month ends so realistically we would need to place the Tula order before 02/21/11. This is the same special they had in January (maybe slightly modified), but I don't think we will get the same special in March.
********
For Primers & Powder, I would prefer to deal with those in DFW. Primer & Powder will ALWAYS require a HazMat fee if I were to have to ship back out and therefore you would loose any cost benefit.
For Bullets, we can get together one Saturday morning and split up the booty.
As I am a Newbie here and obviously don't have a reputation on this board, I might ask 5.0_CJ to hold the funds and place the order so all parties are covered. 5.0_CJ I hope you don't mind if I volunteered ya

That's definitely your best option for primers. As for powder, I've seen some oddly good prices at Bass Pro Shops for their Alliant powders - most of their other prices are not very good, but I did see some that were very impressive. MG bullets are known to be good, but I don't like their prices personally - I've found the rainier projectiles to be excellent as far as accuracy and a bit cheaper (I seem to remember). I'm in for a group buy on .451. Boomhauer is going to trade with me some projectiles he has purchased from a local supplier, and they are full jacketed target ammo - if they shoot good I think we'll be doing a purchase on these. The Tula primer deal is great at PV if we can get enough to go in with us - I had been wanting to do this, but I think they changed it and now it's 20,000 and free hazmat, and you can throw in another 24lbs of powder in on the same hazmat.
I shoot at Alpine (during much better weather) and I'll give them a looksy. The 9 boxes of primers I am looking at would work out to $18.56 in taxes vs $25 in HazMat fees so yes it might be worth a trip out there. However since I am also looking to purchase powder, this changes the picture. An 8lb container of Winchester 231 works out to $14.50 per pound and that is $6 cheaper than Cabela's and they don't even carry the 8lb containers. That is a $48 savings alone in just powder.
I did look at Zero Bullets from Roze Distribution, but in JHP. They have been backordered on JHP's since before Christmas (possibly longer). PV is also a distributor for Zero and from what I've heard tend to package their shipping boxes a little better than Roze. I spoke with someone at PV regarding Zero JHPs in 451 230gr and she said it will likely be late March or early April before they get any in. Since they allow backorders, the next batch may be spoken for and so no real way to tell when they might get some in.

I've got my stuff picked out (see post #80). I'm not particularly fond of Tula Primers so unless we can find someone willing to split the 10K Tula primers with you, we won't be able to forego the HazMat or frieght costs. All of the primers I've got picked out are Winchester.
If you can find someone to split 5K Tula primers, then we can get free shipping up to 45 lbs. We would have to pay HazMat, but I would be willing to split the HazMat Fee with the group.
I did send an email to PV regarding shipping costs. Shipping is $11.95 on 5K Winchester Primers & 8lbs of Winchester 231. The $25 HazMat fee would apply. Since I am also purchasing an additional 4k Winchester Primers and 4lbs of Winchester WST, the HazMat fee & shipping is a drop in the bucket.
If you're not able to find anyone to split the Tula Primer order with you, I'll update this post at the end of the month and let you know when I place my order with PV. You could piggy back on my order to avoid the HazMat Fee (I'll cover it) and just pay your prorated portion of shipping (based on ratio of weight).

Still looking for anyone to split a case of MG 9mm (115gr) JHP's or MG 45ACP (230gr) JHP's. Again, I will be placing this order at the end of the month as well.
