  • New Project

Went by my parents house the other day and had forgotten my dad picked up this old Turk large ring small shank K98 up in a trade. I decided to take it in as a side project since it needed some work to begin with. Initial thoughts were a rebarrel in 6mm AI and run long heavy bullets seated out but it has a 25-06 barrel on it that I'm gonna give a shot first. Poor thing is rough in places and whomever rebarreled it didn't clearance enough fir the extractor to snap over the case rim so the bolt will only close on a round out of the magazine. The safety is also a botched job of sort as some Stanley tool was brazed on for a low profile lever this isn't a huge worry as I'm gonna replace the shroud and add a Timney trigger with safety to the rifle. Will be cerakoting it and adding a walnut stock as well. Should be a good bit of fun and a good way to pass the time.

That was pretty much my reaction when I saw it. What's bad is I'm probably more curious as to what really was as a tool, than the fact that it works really well.
