  • Good buy?

    [ame]http://www.amazon.com/RCBS-Chucker-Supreme-Master-Reloading/dp/B0078MWM2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362497018&sr=8-1&keywords=RCBS+Rock+Crusher[/ame]

I'm close to pulling the trigger (revamping shop and then building bench for it) and read through the FAQ again. I decided against the more expensive options (Progressive...etc) since I'm not real concerned with volume right now and can do that later. I'm concerned with getting started and I'm guessing this setup will make it easier to learn.

I realize I'd still need a brass tumbler, dies and some other odds and ends - but wanted input on this little setup to get going.

    Thank you

Yeah that's not bad, comes with a trimmer and a powder scale also. That's a good buy.

Go to harbor freight for the tumbler unless you find them on sale elsewhere.

That goes for anything purchased from there.

heh, I've not had good luck with things that plug in from HF (I know others have, but that's not been my luck). I'd probably just go with a small one like...

for now...it'll clean them faster then I can load them.

Oh, and thanks for the input on that reloading gear. Much appreciated.

That's a pretty good price for all that. I'm not such a big fan of the Rock Chucker Supreme for the price after reading about a lot of people breaking the handle off. If you were just getting a press, you can get a Redding Big Boss for not much more money that's made in the USA and cast iron vs. made in China and aluminum. But if you need all the rest of the stuff I can understand going with the RCBS kit.

Especially their tumblers. I have had to replace all of them. But, I also run a shitload of brass through my tumblers.

If you can wait Midway has that kit for $319.99, but it's out of stock right now. Says they are expecting them 3/31. The RCBS Rock Chucker is cast iron too.

I get the big box of media from HF, but that's about the extent of what I buy from HF, unless I need a disposable one time only use for a short amount of time tool

How are items for reloading now? Are they stating to come back on the shelves, or are they still hard to find? I am thinking of getting into it for my .357 and my 7mm rifle.

Yeah, I was wrong - it is cast iron with a steel handle. I have seen a bunch of threads about broken RCBS and Lee presses, but a lot of them were 20 or 30 years old too. On the newer RCBS, I guess some people have broken the handle, but it's probably and issue of it not screwing all the way in and snapping at the threads when the shoulder is not seated all the way.
My Redding Big Boss II is a beast and I've never heard of any broken Redding presses. I got mine for $170 shipped from Midsouth Shooters Supply a while back.
