Pretty much any 16" AR-15 can do 400 yards with iron sights. Long range is such a relative thing. You can kill a man at 600 yards with an AR15 if you're experienced.

On the wildcat side, and a bit harder to find the barrels, are the 6mm-.223 and the .25-.223.
Both are made from .223 cases and use .223 bolts and mags....Comment

6mm AR if you want to stick with the ar platform. On a bolt gun short action look at 243, 260 6.5 Creed and 7mm-08. On a long action as yale said 280AI is one of the best."It's another burrito, it's a cold Lone Star in my hand!"Comment
