RIA makes a .38 Super 1911 that's pretty inexpensive. What's their reputation? The Colts are going for $1-3k. Since I'm not a locomotive navigator, that's kinda out of my price range.

I had an RIA compact I bought off Samhain. It worked fine with 230gr ball ammo. It didn't work for shit with any other ammo period. I'm pretty sure that's all the compacts were designed for. But, for a $300 1911 what do you expect? They are a great entry 1911, but if you own a few pistols and intend to shoot your 1911 often, you might look elsewhere."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

RIA is another brand made by Armscor, so if you trust Armscor, you should trust RIA. I am under the impression that they have a higher materials/QC standard than standard Armscor products, like the STI Spartan line.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh
