  • Problem with IMR 4064 powder

Starting loading up some .223/5.56 brass I have and ran into a little problem. The 8lb IMR 4064 powder I bought is causing the powder drop to bind sometimes. It's like this powder is harder then previous powders I've used and it has to like break the grains as it cycles through it's motion. When it binds it fucks up the tip of the brass and causes powder to get every fuckin where. This in turn causes other problems like primers not getting pressed in correctly cause there is gun powder all over the fucking place.

Is there anything to do? I'm using this loading station. I've never had a problem with other gun powder but now I've got 8lbs of this and I'm having problems every 1 and 10 loads (sometimes less often, sometimes more). It's like it needs to be broken up or something.

Sell it or use it to reload 308. Not the best powder choice for loading .223
It happens to be a well thought out and reasoned dissertation on drug use and a lyrical cost/benefit analysis of various kinds of drugs, drawing the conclusion that beer is the best of them all.

X2 It's not the best choice for 223. It can be used but with the type of powder it is a drop tube is really needed to get it in the case.

So I have been wondering, what is the best powder for 223?

That's going to depend on who you ask.
I like h335 for 55grn stuff and use Varget for 69gr and 75gr loads.

But I hear a lot of people loading 223 with RL15, Ramshot TAC, IMR 4895 and some of the VV flavors.

This was the issue online, too many opinions out there. I have read about Varget, considering I have some 68grain stuff, I might give it a shot.

All I have ever used OS Varget and Benchmark. The new cfe stuff shows a lot of promise but is a little harder to find.

There is no way to break this stuff up a little?
