My 20" pencil M16A1 barrel shoots a 1.40" group iron sights at 100 yards with crap ammo, it might shoot better but I've never put it in a sled to see.

Don't knock the pencil barrels, lol. That other post that I made and added the grouping pics was with a 16" pencil barrel.

Groups do look somewhat shooter induced. Normally what you see when it is truly the round is vertical deviation. Side to side normally says that the shooter is pulling or pushing the shots.

My 16 inch m4 has no problem shooting 1/2 inch at a hundred if i do my part. With crap ammo its like a 3 inch group haha.

I believe he's shooting a trigger I worked down to around 5lbs, which isn't perfect but it's no factory GI trigger.

Shouldn't be too bad then. My guess would be too much or too little booger hook on the bang button.

Also, try shooting 3 or 5 shot groups without taking a break. Just take 10 seconds or so between shots, but do not remove your cheek weld. That could also be a major factor. Shouldn't but could.

Range trip was canceled. But I cleaned it up a bit. These are 1 inch squares. The best was 2 1/4 the worst was 3 1/2

In all honestly they all have a left-right variance to them which is indicative of the shooter. Did you have any substantial wind? Granted, it could be random variance, but to see 3 groups with that many rounds all have an almost 2:1 variance in windage compared to drop makes me think it might be your shooting. What I always suggest to try is use sandbags (which you are) and more importantly use some sort of an object under your pistol grip to raise the reticle on the target, so it's on target with some down pressure, then make your corrections. Try to keep the rifle from being completely suspended by you whether is the front or rear, or both. The base of an AR15 pistol grip is sloped upwards at the rear, so you can usually slide something under the pistol grip on your shooting table to get it right where you need it. And of course aim while you squeeze.

Cj there was a little bit of a wind out there. I would probably say 5-10 mph. I would say there is a chance I was pulling a few of them. I know with some of my other guns I can shoot sub moa. I will have to get back out there to try again. I'll work on all of the things that you mentioned above as well. Do you ever hand feed each round rather than using a mag?

One thing it could possibly be is the scopes parallax is out,it is usually generally set on most but some do sneak out that are off.

even if it was off it would stay off and there would be some consistency with his groups.

That wind is not enough to effect a 100 yard shot.

Most scopes are different just look at your manual and it should tell you.

That would depend on how much check wield movement there is between shots, if parallax is off just a little movement can play hell on you.

I;d like to see 5-10 shots with a min or two between shots. Thats how i do mine.
