so i got my new cheapo 1911 in and the first thing i notice whhen i break it down is the recoil spring shooting out at my face. is it better to convert to a solid rod the spring sits on like my kimber has?

I have heard that there is no benefit of a full length guide rod...but I have also heard that GI short guide rods have a tendency to bind the spring and break.
Which is correct? I don't know.كافر
