    10/22 Magnum's are expensive... but do they have to be?

    From what I've seen lately, 10/22 magnum's trend in the $800-1000 range. Which for most people, and those sensible - is a little ridiculous. I was searching around for receivers and I ran across this website:

    80% receivers for 22 WMR / .17HMR .... for $290 all parts included minus barrel/trigger group. That's stupid cheap... I fired off an e-mail to them with some key questions, but I'm seriously considering ordering this one. It appears all you need is one of their jigs, and a drill press. No FFL required, of course.

    I'm just not sure if I can swallow the $100 VQ magazines.... ugh..

      Too cool. If you decide to order one, let me know. Maybe we can go half on the jigs. This will give me an excuse to buy a small table top drill press.

        I've been been interested in the 10/22m for a while, i'm down too.

          They did respond, all you need is a drill/drill press and their jig to finish the receivers. They include everything but a trigger group. Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe they use standard 10/22 trigger groups?

          ...Also they are only available in black - which kinda sucks, was hoping to get one in the white.

            so that + drill press would make it swapable into a stock ruger 10/22?

              yep, just need a .22mag barrel. so for around $500 you could have a $1,000 10/22M

              OR, you convert it to .17HMR

                  I haven't priced them in a while, but I believe the only change needed is a .17HMR barrel - price them out at midway or brownells... I'd say between $100-200. They might need a new main spring.. but for around the same price you can get a semi auto .17HMR rifle.

                            I'd really like to, but I'd rather do an SBR/suppressor for my existing 10/22. However, I'm considering picking a receiver up.
