  • .40 S&W carry?

So I'm looking for a carry weapon for summer time. My HK USPC is a little difficult to conceal in shorts and a tshirt so I wanted to find something with a smaller profile.

Went to CTD and saw the Kahr CW40. Fits all 4 fingers, single stack 7+1 if I'm not mistaken. Only drawback is the loooooong pull and no safety. Basically a DAO gun.

At Cabelas today I checked out the Walther PPS, but that trigger was just as long and I HATED the mag release.

My reasoning for the .40S&W carry is that its the same caliber as my HK and I have already purchased reloading dies and accessories for the .40, so it seemed financially beneficial to stick with the .40 if at all possible. I'll probably branch out to a .380 later at some point, but as of right now I am picking up a .223, so I'll need to pick up reloading equipment for that. Trying to limit my expense on this stuff.

That one is a little overpriced, but it has all the specs.
I have the 9mm version of it and I've been very happy with it.

I forgot to mention I checked out the G27 in .45, and it wasn't a good fit. The slide release is so tiny I cant use it lefty. There is no feasible way for me to get to it without really changing up my grip. Is the XD a 3 or 4 finger grip? I thought all XDs were double stack mags too.

Even if thats overpriced, that is cheaper than the Kahr. I'll check it out.

I like XDs, they are very nice weapons, but I really want to stick to a single stack. I like the concealability. With the XD subcompact, its just a little shorter version of my HK (frame wise, I know they are wildly different guns). I want to find something that fits my hand well, so no 3 finger BS, but something thats short and thin enough to conceal in almost any situation short of going to the beach.

I like the Kahr, but just not a huge fan of the trigger so I was looking for similar guns to that. While the XD is an excellent choice and an outstanding handgun, its not what Im looking for.

I have a cw40, I like it a lot. You are welcome to shoot it if you want to, it kicks like a mule is my only complaint.

I had a taurus mellinium pro in .40 and liked it too. It was a bit fat for my taste in carry, though i wouldn't mind having another someday.

I carry a TCP daily, its too easy to slip in my pocket and go.

I might have to check out the CW40. I dont mind the kick at all. TCP is a bit small for me

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE HK and would love to have a P2000SK, but that just doesn't fit what I am looking for in this situation.

Ugh, doesn't anyone make an ambidextrous single stack .40 caliber compact pistol with single action?

Buy that and have an ambidextrous safety installed.

That looks badass! But holy shit way out of my budget. Might just be going for the Kahr until I can swing something like that
