How hard are they to obtain? Is it a painful process?

I heard that they are not opening up any new "kitchen table" FFLs, only brick and mortor store fronts.

Besides unless you are running a store front business you don't want the ATF that far into you life. Hell they are even putting those guys in jail or giving them fines for periods and commas being off.

It's not painful, more or less tedious.

I've slowly been working on getting mine done, but overall it's just been paperwork and talking with the inspectors. I'm guessing running one out of a house may be a tad more difficult.

Yeah, I was contemplating a side business and eventually going as a full on distributor. Gun shops are few and far between around here. I see a market. Thanks.

Yeah if you can get a legit store front and operate as an actual business, the process is pretty easy.

From what I remember, you have to sign off a document that says ATF can visit and inspect your place of business anytime. I don't think I could sign that if I had a home business.

fingerprints paperwork fingerprints and paperwork all thats involved they will approve "home" gunstores but you have to prove to them your not just doing it to buy for yourself and friends or that your not planning to run guns to Canada (damn Canadians)

you will talk to a couple inspectors and maybe an agent or two most are nice people had opportunity to talk with a few be straight and honest and they will approve you
