Anyone on here have one and do you like it?

  • #2
Some people do, but honestly they dont really do anything well... other than throwing under the bed as a home defense gun.

You cant skeet shoot with them without looking like a total jackass (and they dont have the appropriate bead), I believe they are illegal to hunt with in Texas (unless you can find a tiny magazine or pin one down... also you will look like a jackass), and they are pretty damn heavy. Some guys use them for 3 gun, but they usually suck compared to traditional autoloaders fed by speed loaders.

Now if you just want to go to your local gun range wearing a TAPOUT shirt and fire from the hip sporadically, then the Saiga 12 might be for you.

Almost all 12 gauges that are not single shots of break opens are "mag fed"

Being AKs they run with all kinds of abuse, may require a little dialing of the pressure system with different ammo. Their also easy to work on.

Some skeet guys dont like them because its a nontraditional shotgun. Some ranges may require smaller mags. So buy a rounder or pin a 5 rounder

I know many people go hug hunting with them, All thats required is a 8 (or 10) round mag as far as Im aware of.

The only thing you wouldn't be able to hunt with them is migratory game birds. Beyond that, you can hunt anything with them that can be legally taken with a shotgun. I'm not into them because they're kind of heavy, and field shotguns should be as light as is comfortable.

Generally guns with a tube magazine are referred to as tube fed, and ones that use a box type magazine are referred to as magazine fed.

My buddy has a tricked out one, I shot it and can honestly say it was just okay. I would personally never buy one, but rather have a benelli super nova.

I've seen many s-12's have fouling issues and jamming until you clean them.

I love mine. I have a 5, 10 and 20 round mag for it and have had it since they were initially sold. Only thing I don't like is the fact it doesn't lock back on an empty mag

I've converted many and don't own one. If I were still shooting 3 gun I might SBS one and use it with a nice stock setup but they are too much money in the long run.

That being said it is quite fun to shoot and with a little care and maybe (maybe) some tweaking) you can shoot pretty much any 12ga sheel and get it to cycle

I noticed that they went up a little over $200 on Atlanticfirearms.com I had been looking at grabbing one, but for that much I will pass.

Couple of things happened primarily the ATF ban scare, so the profiteers are out in force. Secondly the companies that import the s12 have changed. So inventory is low from that change over (dealers have backlogs). Thirdly Obpma/AG Holder/ Clinton have been doing some things to delay or stop importation and exportation of some firearms and I assume that has had a direct trickle down on to the s12s importation.
