  • Converting M&P15 to M&P15r

I can't sem to find any literature on this. I have a M&P 15 and if it is as simple as swapping uppers, I am interested.

Or if I could use (1) of the (2) lowers I am hopefully getting soon, to make a 5.45x39 compatible rifle, I'm all for it.

Should be as simple as swapping uppers. Colt is the only one with different sized take down pins, that I'm aware of. Only difference might be the fit, either tighter or looser.

      Cool

Dumb question. If I get a 11.5" 5.45x39 upper and swap my .223/5.56 11.5" upper out, does that violate the NFA rules on my SBR? Only the lower is registered, so technically you should be able to swap out the upper right?

If the lower is a registered SBR you can put whatever upper on it you want. BUT you have to be able to put it back to the original configuration that is on the stamp.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Awesome, thanks for the help. I'm not going to toss my .223/5.56 upper, but it would be nice to have a 5.45x39 pistol upper that I can plink with on the weekends.

Brotha everything is cooler as a SBR..

I still have three stamps to complete and send but seeing as I won't be home again until September, time is on my side.

This is how I read/understood the rules as well.
