      It's a polymer lower.

How does that affect things? Just curious as that's a good price and I've sold off my Bushmaster XM15 a month ago and I'm looking for one now.

So, is the lower inferior? Do they stand up?

i dont think the carbon/polymer are mil-spec either.

I'm sure they're okay rifles, but the extra little bit of weight doesn't concern me a bit with an aluminum lower, so I'd stick with those.

why not buy it, and you can get a mil spec lower later. Then you can take the polymer lower and build a super cheap .22 plinker.

Do the math. It's not like 650$ is an unheard of price. Hell, I paid 700$ OTD for my mid-length Spike's rifle complete. If you look, you can find the DPMS sportical, oracle, etc for ~600$.

Jose, I have a buddy who is a dealer who can get you into an M&P 15, a Bushie carbine, a stag arms... for about 700$ out the door.

Really? I need to holler at you sometime than. Been keeping an eye on the used gun sites for a Ruger SR-556 (piston carbine) and found a deal on a used one for $1200 but didn't feel like driving down to Round Rock. But for that price I'm sure I'd be happy again with any of the ones you mentioned

Those SR556 carbines are neat looking guns and I have heard good things. Ruger has also just announced that they will begin selling the upper seperate, so that may be an option for you Jose.

Also, if you are in the market for a piston 223, check out the sig 556. My Dad bought one not too long ago and it has been an excellent gun that I shot in competition one time just to see how it performed. I was very satisfied, and Bachman has certified pre-owned ones for $799!

Certified pre-owned guns? I've never heard of such a thing. 799 for which model?

He got the SIG 556 SWAT-

I have put 200 or so rounds through it and it shoots great!

                            Heres a quick breakdown

                            Pros-
Incredibly easy to clean (about as easy as an AK)
                            Handles like the familiar ar15
                            Accurate gun with irons
                            Looks pretty damn sharp
                            Takes ar15 magazines
Folding stock, versus just a collapsible like on an AR
                            2 stage trigger

                            Cons-
Reciprocating charging handle (some dont mind this)
Bigger than an AR15 (bulkier than an m4 variant)
                            Stamped receiver
                            Not a huge parts infrastructure

Thats pretty sweet looking! I was checking out an Armalite M15 (AR-15 carbine) for $640, but this thing isnt too much more and its more original than just another AR.
