need some help here -
it's a yugo sks
cut barrel down to 16", had issues with cycling
found some info online on some guy who's modified about a dozen of them or so.
Drilled out gas port big as can go he suggested.
that helped a lot, about 75% reliable after that .
Mind you i m useing cheap ass russian ammo
then I cut off about 2-3 turns off the spring
last time out there about 90% reliable
still getting some jams - I see this :
fresh bullet in barrel part way, but with extracted case jammed against back of barrel about 2 o clock on the flat part
not sure if it occurs mainly after heated up (possible more pressure escaping around bullet?) because most of first mag was solid, with only the last 4 being an issue.
Now I have a new issue though - slam fires, got a bunch
so do I :
cut more coils off?
get a firing pin with that spring that reduces/eliminates slam fires?
or what next?
I noticed when my friend was shooting it that extraction is still pretty week, not lobbing the cases very far at all , just a few feet if I had to guess.
