Finally got it in! AK-74

Just picked it up today...first off, quick shout to Jeff at Live to Shoot. $15 ffl, guy just bent over backwards to get me in and out because I had to broadcast a council meeting that night. Whole process took maybe 8 minutes...wow..use this guy fellas.

Second, no canted sites, minimal mag wobble...looks good. Only thing to test is if it keyholes or not.

Yep, hence why I mentioned no canted sites and the mag tightness...very solid feeling..I've owned an older century before and this is much better quality than what I remember, I know people dog on Century Arms, and rightfully so...but if you get lucky, you get a solid gun.

Paid $415.99...still not as good back in the hey-day when they were 369.00 shipped, but those were Polish Tantals and they had serious QC issues.

Ultimately, the range will rouse any issues.

I had a AK-47 about 3 or so years ago...call me crazy but the 7.62x39 round just has a lot of kick. This 5.45x39 round is often mimicked to the .223 in terms of recoil...except it's like 11 cents a round for me vs 30 cents with my AR-15's

I had a AK-47 about 3 or so years ago...call me crazy but the 7.62x39 round just has a lot of kick. This 5.45x39 round is often mimicked to the .223 in terms of recoil...except it's like 11 cents a round for me vs 30 cents with my AR-15's

the 5.45 round has much less recoil than a .223. It's like firing an air rifle.

In! Once I get the windage widget, my 74 shoots right a couple inches. Thought it was me at first since I tend to shoot right but it did the same for the other folks we were with. And I did swap my pistol grip for something more comfy.

I think I am going to change the stock and pistol grip out too...where did you get yours? I like the big rubber grips like the ones on my AR

The stock was fine, especially since its a little longer than the one on the ak47 we have. I went with the Mako pistol grip but almost got hosed since it uses a different bolt than the stock one and was missing from the package. Once I found one in my loose bits bin it was back in action.
