Question: What are your thoughts on the first generation 400 series: The one on the left...
This guy has dropped the price to $125...but is taking reasonable offers...thinking of offering him $100, but I'm curious on if it's just as good as the shorter, eotech-like ones.

I have both a Vortex red dot and an Eotech holo sight. I must say I really like the Eotech. Like said above, it stays on target no matter where your eye is while looking through the sight.
I like the Vortex too, but the Eotech is so much better for me.

So far i have had no issues. I've only put 500 or so down range with it. I put a scope on the rifle for hunting. If i ever finish the other rifle it will see more action.
I like it for under 100 yard work on rabbits and other small things. It works really well on coyotes in 100-150 range.
The down fall is the size of the dot. If you could get a smaller dot you would have better shot placement. For its intended use as a reflex sight aka cover up center and fire its great. The magnifier only makes the dot worse, but you can shoot 1 inch groups at 50 yards no problem if you have something to reference.
another down fall is the power button is easy to hit and ive read that some have poor button feel. Mine are nice and crisp.
If i had the choice between an aimpont style sight and a eotech id take the eotech. Even if that means i have to redo the settings each time.
The field of view with the eotechs is just greater. You get that tube feeling with the aimpont/vortex. For the money Id still buy it again, but i use it for bunny hunting/coyotes in certain places, and just fun.

Does anyone have any feedback?

It's all metal and bright as hell. Has about 6 brightness adjustments and I use in bright sunlight with no problem.
