Kid's first hunting rifle?

My son will be 10 by the time season comes around. I want to get him out there and am debating on a caliber to grow with.

Any tips or suggestions? I've been debating 6.5 Creedmoor and .243.

A Tikka t3x lite in 243 would be the bees knees of first hunting rifles. Problem is you may like it too much to share.
