Just curious but are they worth the money? Like the Nickel Boron variety or Robar's NP3 coating? From what I've been reading up on it is for making cleaning easier plus the added protection of extra lubricity.

They are a "little" slicker than a standard BCG. Probably a little better in a really dirty environment. If your AR is a range gun and you clean and lube regularly, I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze. -

If you are going for ultra low cost skip it, however I really like mine.
There is a difference in cleaning effort once the round counts go up.

If the US military doesn't need that coating neither do you..... now if you want it go for it. Mil spec black phosphate works just fine and it doesn't reflect as much light.Comment

I have 2 guns that run Fail Zero BCGs. They are both DI and pretty easy to clean. They are both in Vltor billet uppers and run very smooth with light oil.
I have a couple other standard low cost BCGs that are DI and you can feel a difference in the way it moves...could be a mixture of inexpensive upper and BCG together. Cleaning them is obviously more difficult to clean and I put more oil on them when they come out to shoot.
Then I have a handful of Adams Arms gas piston BCGs in piston guns. Their BCGs are smoothed out and coated and of course don't get dirty like a DI gun does. Light oil and they wipe clean with a rag and a little brake cleaner, reoil and put back in.
All that said, if it is a quality build, spend the extra money on your BCG also. If it is a beat-around truck gun, a $79.00 PSA BCG works just fine.
I like my Fail Zero ones. They were not very expensive for what you get and still have all the luxuries of the coating and smooth action.
I have a few SBRs that will eventually get their DI PSA BCG replaced with these from Lantac. I am a big fan of Lantac's research/design and quality.

I have two NiB BCGs, one is the AIM Surplus brand, and the other is a Fail Zero. I paid $99.99 for each one of them. They are both MUCH easier to clean than a conventionally coated one. The Fail Zero one is noticeably slicker than the AIM Surplus one. It literally took longer to disassemble and reassemble it than it did to clean it. I hate cleaning guns but like to shoot. That being said, anything I can do to make it easier for me I'm game to do. I've looked at the Hornady Sonic Cleaner and have it on my Amazon Wish List. I'm seriously thinking about getting my BCG coated by Robar. But I need to look at just buying one of the ones mentioned above outright. Guess I need to see which is more cost effective.Comment

Bought the Lantac. This thing is slicker than snot. I thought it had an oil on it and tried to wipe it off...nothing on the rag, not a smudge. Tossed it in an SBR and plan on taking it for a spin this week.
