  • suggestions on inexpensive AK47 magazines?

Decided I want to pick up a few 30rd magazines for my AK and was wondering if anyone has compared the offerings from the various vendors. Tapco, Promag, Magpul, Arsenal, etc. Our local big sports store here in Albuquerque (Sportsmans Warehouse) has the Tapco 30rd mags for $11.99, the Magpuls are $16.99..and of course I can get them online for quite a bit less. Gun is a Century Arms Zastava Yugo AK-47.

Buy the surplus steel mags. You should be able to find them for 7-10 each. AIMsurplus generally stocks a few different types. It may have just been the specific rifle but Tapcos were hard to lock in on my buddies Zastava NPAP.

Why would I buy an AR15 for AK47 magazines when I already have an AR15?

Seriously, it's a Yugo gun, get Yugo mags. Aimsurplus has surplus yugo bolt hold open mags at 10 for $90 plus shipping. They are great mags. The only downside is that they are heavier than others. They are a thick, durable, blued steel. If you want brand new get the Croatian mags. They are direct copies but slightly thinner steel and may require filing to fit perfect.

I like those...may pick up a few when I get my next check.

honestly just about any cheap ak mag works. As long as the spring is spec and the curvature is correct, anything will feed an AK. I usually buy polish mags as they are cheapest.

Any eastern bloc suruplus mags will work just fine and are cheap. i've gotten most of mine through sg ammo. they are used, paint is messed up, but they function flawlessly.

I like these. The last round bold hold is nice even though it will close once you pop the mage out.

My 2nd favorite are the short tanker mags but they aren't cheap anymore.
