              Springfield never made a Model 1917.

              Pattern 14s and Model 1917s are made by Winchester, Remington, or Eddystone. P14s being made for the Commonwealth in the caliber .303. When the US entered the war the factories that had made the P14 began to turn out the 1917, the rifle was standardized in the US .30 caliber cartridge.

                            My grandfather had one as well he bought for $5 off a stockpile after WWII. I drooled over that rifle from 5 years old until about 15 years old when he told me I could take it out to shoot. Went to get it, it was missing. Found out my uncle had pawned it. Fucking cock sucker. I vowed to get another one and finally did about a year ago.

                              my grandfather was PISSED when he found out that his brother had given his dads old 45-70 to someone for putting in a screen door. my grandfather was the only kid in the family that was into hunting/guns.
