NAVARRO COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
Navarro County deputies say they found more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition, along with illegal firearm components hidden in the walls of a child pornography suspect's home.
On Thursday, deputies arrested Harvey Alec Strain, 79, of Corsicana, at a home in Corsicana.
The sheriff's office says deputies went to a residence in the 8800 block of Highway 31 to execute a search warrant and serve an arrest warrant for Strain for possession of child pornography. He was arrested as he was pulling up to a locked gate at his residence. Strain was found in possession of a loaded pistol at the time of his arrest.
The sheriff's department says that as detectives began searching the home, they found a cache of weapons and ammunition.
"Due to the large number of firearms observed in plain view and the number of possible automatic weapons present, a call was placed to to the Dallas Field Division of the ATF for assistance. At this time, deputies working along with ATF agents, have located approximately 45 firearms with a number of the automatic firearms being illegal for Mr. Strain to possess," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
Officers found 100,000 rounds of various types of ammunition and numerous firearm components in the home and hidden in the walls of the residence.
Friday, ATF agents and deputies continued searching the home and processing evidence.
Strain was booked into the Navarro County Justice Center.
