I noticed upper receiver parts kits go anywhere frmo $55 (DPMS) - $175 (COLT). Are there and brands to stay away from?

If you have the tools and you're patient you should build one.

Just don't use a damn JP Enterprise forend for your first build. Lining that damn thing up wrecked my nerves but after knowing it shoots true and accurate I am glad for the experience.

I'm asking that same question and I'm leaning towards building an upper if it can save me some money.

There is nothing like sending the first round down range through a gun you built comletely from a pile of parts. I have built and fired 1 gun that I put the barrel in myself. Having done it once I may never buy another complete upper again.

My Western Union cost me $58.00 it hurt but spreading it out over 10 lowers and 5 parts kits it is still a good deal.
