  • Wait time for license to carry? What holster do you like?

I am looking to take the class in a couple weeks, but was curious if anyone knows the wait time to get your license from the state? Anyone have any idea?

Also what holsters do you guys prefer? I have been looking around and there are a bunch in options. Any one better? Plastic, leather? I've seen a couple of carbon fiber ones that look pretty cool and seems they would help keep weight down. Thoughts?

Really kinda need to know what kind of gun you're gonna carry before you start picking out holsters. I've only carried concealed and I prefer the soft holsters like the Sticky Holsters (yes that is the brand name). I carry behind the back tucked under the belt...for me its comfortable. I carry an XDS-45.

don't remember how long it took but it really does depend on the person, the wife and I submitted on the same day and hers took over twice as long as mine

It took almost exactly one month for mine last summer.

I'm using an Alien Gear IWB holster for my Beretta PX4 Storm Compact. It's pretty comfortable.

Some people cringe at the thought of a IWB holster that doesn't have a belt clip (at all). I was very skeptical when the sales associate showed it to me (The Sticky Holster) at GT Distributors in Dallas/Mesquite...but I took a chance on it...and it actually works extremely well. I was originally carrying my Shield 40 in it and never once had an issue..the more you sweat the better it stays in place. Sold the 40 for my XDS-45 and it fits it like a glove. There is no such thing as a perfect holster...I've tried the Elite Tactical...its not bad but the metal clip was tearing up my shirts. The Sticky Holster works great. I have one for both of my CCW's.

I carry a XDS-9mm as well. I am appendix carry. It allows me to hide it on my very narrow frame.

My holster of choice is from www.4cornersconcealment.com I found their price for a full kydex holster to be one of the best. I have been very pleased wuth quality and performance. They offer a variety of colors and prints.

Interesting I will have to look into those. I've heard good stuff about the alien gear holsters but they seem bulky.

Do you find that kydex to be uncomfortable? I am a bit weary about hard plastics vs a softer leather holster. I am I guess an average size guy 6'1" and around 205 lbs, I think I want to carry in the ~5 o'clock position. When hopping around on my land I've been using a universal cloth holster on my right hip clipped to my belt and like that position, but it's too bulky in that position to keep it concealed.

I use an inexpensive foxx branded iwb at 3 and have no complaints. Had to cant forward a bit for comfort when seated but that's it. Retention is good and like I said, it was cheap

I don't have any issue with it. Though I am a smaller guy. 5'8" and 135 lbs.

They take good care of the edges and make sure they aren't sharp. It fits the profile of the gun well.

Where are you located? I am in Greenville. If you are near me I will gladly let you check it out.
