Yup. Good for both CC and OC.

Anyone care to speculate on how that will affect reciprocity with other states that don't currently support open carry? If the new license doesn't specifically state "concealed" carry will we still be legal to carry concealed in those states?

It will have no effect on other states laws. Plenty of states have much more open weapon laws than texas.

I'm 100% pro gun but I also have this weird feeling that open carry is just gonna be a fashion statement for idiots that don't respect guns or the people around them.

You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

Have you ever spent anytime in an open carry state? The guns on peoples hips attract ZERO attention and are viewed in the same but unremarkable light as someone wearing pants. You would have to put a flashing strobe light onto a handguns grip to even get one noticed in AZ.

I expect to see a lot of people carry and then it'll thin out.

This. Been in Nevada and people paid no mind to it. I expect once the "surprise" is over here, it'll be the same.

I think this is reasonable. Most employers are still not going to want people walking around open carry and that's their call if you want their paycheck money.

Then on the weekends folks may do it or during their time off.

My opinion always has been we deserve the option of open carry, the individual can choose what fits best with their lifestyle.

I see myself car/pocket carrying during the week but under the shirt with not much concern about concealment over the weekend in a regular holster.

Open Carry was a GOD send to the people of the state of Arizona.
After a few L.A. types were "rehabilitated" from car jacking etc. Those
                          that were left, LEFT!

This^. No individuals really care and few businesses put up no gun signs who didn't have them already. When I lived in Phoenix most of the no gun signs were posted at places where it was prohibited by law.

Still wish they would allow us to carry retractable batons. I can carry a gun, on my hip that will deal death, but I can't carry a flashlight sized baton that may potentially defuse a situation without blood and bullets.
