School me on remington 700

I have an opportunity to pick one up for $285+tax. Its new in box with a scope. Its chambered in 7mm. I am currently without a deer gun. Just curious what you guys thoughts are on this gun, and if its worth getting.

For that price you can not go wrong. Is it a 7mm Mag or a 7 Mauser? There are lots of different 7mms out there and the higher power versions are among my favorite cartridges.

I don't have a high opinion of Remington, but at that price and depending on what scope is mounted, it's a good deal

+tax would make me guess NIB from store. Likely will need a new scope, those included scopes are horrible. Still, if you want a 7mm caliber rifle - why not? My favorite shooting 30-06 hunting rifle is a 300 dollar Mossberg with a 100 dollar Nikon scope.

If this is the same deal they have all over the place, the gun is fine but the scope is pretty bad.

I dont really have a budget. It would be more of an oppurtunity buy. I dont hunt that often and when i do i use my dads 30-06. i just want somthing reliable thats accurate to a couple hundred yards of my own, and dont want to spend a lot. I have no plans on ugrading anything but the glass.

I would look at what Savage has. They tend to have smoother and tighter tolerances in the factory action and have much nicer triggers. I have a Remington 700 that I bought this time last year and it's been built into a competition rifle with the action trued by my gunsmith but it still has some slop.

Im really on the fence on picking up a mcmillian savage 10 or a fn spr. I finger fucked a spr a5m at swfa the other day. I instantly fell in love, but the 2700 price tag..

The A3G is a bad bitch. Even their hunting rifles are really nice though. Then again I'm a sucker for crf actions. I'm not overly fond of Salvages they typically shoot good but they have some things I despise.
