Since Texas CHL holders do not require background checks (I assume at least some other states are the same), I wonder if that is even an accurate representation of total sales. I would guess it is at least a little low.

We're about 4% the Texas population, though. So I don't think it'd impact the numbers that much.

4% of the total population, but how much of the 'gun buying' population? That would be a better number to use to estimate. Of course, that is probably a more difficult population to identify.

True enough. And depending what you source 50% to 35% of Texans own guns.
