Thanks, guys. I'll check them out. At a quick glance, I like the looks of the Ruger. I own a few Ruger rifles including a 10/22, and I like the quality of them. Appreciate the help.

If I was buying another .22 pistol this would be on my list along with the buckmark. Both come with a threaded barrel option for cans.

        22 Semi Automatic handgun

I bought the Sig Sauer 22 that is a copy of the 1911. It is almost the same weight, and is the same size. It is really accurate, and is a sweet shooter. You can shoot all day without going broke.

I have a M&P Compact with a threaded barrel. Pretty sweet little rig but I prefer my Ruger.

Good timing on this thread. I was wanting to get something to help teach the kids handguns.

The Ruger or a Woodsman are the best options out there.

You guys will appreciate this. I stopped to look at pistols at Academy last night looking at 22's. They had the buckmark, and i had no intention of buying until I got to look at the Ruger. I came home with an XDS. Funny how that happens. Today I'm heading to Cabela's to look at the Ruger.

Another vote for a 22/45, probably one of my favorite pistols to shoot really.

The Buckmark is possibly better built, but the 22/45 Lite is such a flexible platform it's ridiculous.

Wife needs a lite auto .22 pistol for her CHL class next Tuesday.... school me on something
available local that's easy to learn, operate & shoot, and of course that won't break the bank.

I think Texas still has a minimum caliber requirement of .32 for CHL qualification.

don't have threaded barrel but my kids like this, I found that the grip sleeve would slip down while trying to insert mag so it did not go all the way in. Now I squeeze top of slide with index finger and bottom of mag with thumb

I was fortunate to come into a Colt Cadet dirt cheap...I like it, but apparently hard to find since they didn't make them for long...anybody else have experience with these?

When it comes to .22lr semi-auto pistols, you really can't go wrong with any of them that Ruger make.
