  • Sig 556 Swat vs 556XI

I have a new in the box Sig 556 Swat Rifle and had been loooking at the 556XI. I've noticed that I can get a 556XI for mucg cheaper than the 556 Swat. Is the value of the 556 Swat more than a new 556XI?

I have both and both are a disappointment. Sig dropped the ball with their US offerings for this model of rifle. I would not recommend buying the 556xi.

I'd probably hold out for a review or suggestions from someone else.

What disappointments do you have with the Swat (older model)?

He's disappointed they didn't take all of his design recommendations into consideration after he spent the evening chatting it up with Lüke & Ortmeier Gruppe on their company yacht.

Not quite Magnus. My disappointment with them is that they do not match the quality of the euro Swiss Arms models that I own of which the US versions were supposed to be a copy of. Many of the parts in the rifles are actual euro made parts but as a whole the US versions are just a shadow of what they should have been.

They are not built to the same standards as the real Swiss Arms models that they are supposed to be copies of. On the plus side of things they come with real euro parts that can not be found on the real deal euro models such as a full auto bolt carrier. The US spec sights also SUCK ASS when compared to the euro models.

I ran into the same thing with the first 556 that I bought. When I was cleaning it I found that I could unscrew the barrel from the receiver by hand. It got much better after I tightened it up.

Do a search under my screen name jackass. I posted about it along with plenty of pictures about 6-7 years ago on Glock Talk and a Sig forum. I think that a friend also posted it to his youtube channel but he is no longer around to ask.

I have the 556xi pistol. I have not fired it yet. A lot of people complain about the gas system from what I have seen.

The US spec gas plug port sizes are not the same as the euro models. This company sells an ungraded one that fixes the issue so long as you are lucky (VERY LUCKY) enough to have a rifle that has the barrels gas port drilled in the correct spot.

I've never shot one before, but the research I did before I bought one made me not want one.

If you want to do it right, buy one of the sigarms 553 pistols being imported. Hell of an SBR candidate.
