Fuck Target Master!!!! So I called Target Master to see if they by chance had a Ruger Precision, which of course they didn't, and the guy said that the MSRP would be over $2000. Academy has it on their web site( when they come out) for a little over $1000. Does anyone know when these rifles are going to be available????

They are already available, but the demand for them is extremely high! You probably won't see one, especially in 6.5 Creedmoor, at your local stores for at least a few more months.

Reports are street prices are $900-$1,100...

Good luck... You will spend twice the amount of money, or more, compared to buying a Ruger Precision Rifle and I guarantee you wont have twice the rifle...

If you're wanting to get competitive with it, it's cheaper to buy a custom action like a Stiller, Defiance, or Surgeon, and go from their than it is to have a Remington action blueprinted and trued. I should have listened a little harder when I bought my 700ADL to build from. Won't make that mistake again.

I have right under $4k into my rifle after parts and labor. I could have built a better rifle had I listened a little harder. And I definitely agree with the Ruger Precision Rifle.

My advice and what I learned the hard way.... wait a year. The Ruger Scout was selling for $850 plus when it released. It's now available for $700 if you watch sales. The same goes for the Beretta 1301 tactical. It was $1300ish upon release now you can find them for 900 on sale. I'm glad I waited on both of these and will be adding them to my collection soon (probably around Christmas).

Dan Wesson 10mms on the other hand are always too damn expensive.

I bet once most of the gotta have it guys get theirs Ruger Precisions will sell for suggested retail at 900-1K. I will look again then.

I'll look into that guys, thanks.

Is it more efficient to go with the custom action versus the ruger?

A custom action because they take an action and perfect all the flaws. The bolt will run smoother, the tolerances will be tighter so you don't have as much negative movement when running the bolt, and the bolt will be ergonomically correct. Meaning the least amount of effort will be needed to lift and run the bolt.

It also means you will pay as much for the custom action as you would for the entire Ruger precision rifle.

Kinda a subjective comparison in my opinion. A custom action can offer exact features one may want in the action like feed style, mag cut, rail, lug and bolt area but that's it. A barrel with chambering plus a trigger, bottom metal and stock are also needed.

The long term longevity is the only thing holding the Ruger back. Nobody knows how well they will hold up under a lot of use. Moto and I had a conversation with a Ruger owner at the last match we went to and his main area of concerns were the trigger system.

I'd like to see a comparison dollar for dollar in terms of accuracy between the two rifles.

There is a comparison on YouTube between a accuracy international( I think ) and a Ruger precision, and for the for the price the Ruger came in ahead.

That was done by the owner of snipershide. Not to take anything away from the rest but the only thing the two have in common is accuracy. The AI is built like a tank and is almost indestructible. It's guaranteed to cycle and fire under all conditions has a awesome 2 stage trigger thats reliable and quick change barrel setup. The Ruger is not built near to the standards and already has a few people buiding upgraded parts for it. Now at it's price it offers more than enough and is ahead of the majority of the pack with only a few comparable options.

The only bad thing I have herd about the Ruger is the safety lever is a little loose.

The plastic fire control dust cover isn't a good design but Chad at LRI already has a replacement for it in billit. I believe that the factory one was bad on one that yale had to send back.

The only owner I have spoke to said the trigger felt really good at first but after some use (live and dry fire) it has developed some creep. His was one of the first runs though. I honestly feel like it won't be long before timney or jewel develop a replacement fire control group.
