I like my nicer builds to have either a coated or very smooth finish. Easier to clean and will function smoother.
Truck gun build, cheap, use cheaper parts. They don't cycle as smooth and have rougher finishes that traps crap.
I have a couple 150 Fail Zero BCGs and they work great. Smoothly coated finish means I can pull it out, hit it with a little solvent and wipe clean with a t-shirt rag. Lube it up and through it in.
I have a couple 79 PSA BCGs and they don't clean as easily or slide as smoothly.
Both will work in each other's uppers but you can feel the differences.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

thanks for the info Kieth. I already had the lower it is a CMMG so it is not junk but not top of the line either. I decided to pick up the DOA arms upper it is for my daughter and really like the way it looks and the long rail. but do not think it has the best barrel but figured I could upgrade it down the road.

I'm sure someone else here can elaborate but that is how I understand it.

The "half-circle" BCG's are during the ban era, and were M16 BCG's which had the bottom milled off (quite labor intensive I might add). The SP1 carrier is from Colt SP1's, they have the furthest cut back shelf, and because of their location, spawned the creation of lightning links (all lightning links use SP1 carriers)."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

Digging this back up. I need a BCG for my SBR. I've seen the comments to pick up the cheapest one and go to town. I've seen comments suggesting that the BCG has an effect on accuracy. A lot of comments saying not to spend less than $100, etc.
I am hoping to find a good deal during the black Friday sales, but I also want to make an informed purchase and get the best bang for the buck.
The gun currently has a basic LPK, SS barrel, and a PSA upper. I plan to do a trigger upgrade at some point.Originally posted by LeahBest balls I've had in my mouth in a while.

This one? I've had great experiences ordering from AIM. I'm hoping they will discount it a bit next weekOriginally posted by LeahBest balls I've had in my mouth in a while.

No, they don't have an effect on accuracy. Your bolt head can, but it's entirely how the bolt face contacts the barrel extension. I've gone through 5 bolt heads testing accuracy and found one that worked the best. We did this with Keith's rifle once. The bolt itself doesn't matter, it's simply how one meets up with the other, entirely random."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
