I did some more reading and came across this.

He also scratched the barrel pretty bad.
    Damn

    There is no excuse for

I guess it was a good move doing my own sight on an SBS I talked to him about.

You can modify the front trunion by drilling and riveting in the catch paw, spring, and cutting the relief in the receiver for the pass through. I don't know if that can be done with the gun assembled though. I would just tear the receiver off and use a new one. That or just install a Beryl side folder (it's higher quality anyway).
I'm thinking that's a no/go on another receiver since it's already registered as an SBR, but I could be wrong.

      I'll google Beryl side folder.

Let me very clear in what I am about to say:

        DO NOT GO WITH JBI

There is a really good, and inexpensive company that will do it for you. I went underfolder.

Here we go, had to dig out an email:

$50 for engraving, $100 for UF conversion. May be different $$ for a side folder.

Weird. I have technically been to your house.

          Please don't shoot me.

Called the number listed and they stated they're not taking any work at this time. I may have to accept the fact that I'll probably have to ship out-of-state. Was hoping to be able to just drop off locally. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm half tempted to order the side fold trunnion from AK Builder and the rivet compressor from Tothtools and give it ago myself.

There is thread from another forum that details where to make cuts and drilling holes in the receiver, including the pass thru for the catch.

Sorry to hear that. When I contacted them last year they had an 8 week lead time, which was far better than what I got at JBI. Plus their pricing is great.

If I hear of anyone else that does it, I will PM you.

Yeah, $50 to engrave is better than the $75 I was quoted from JBI. That was on top of the original $700 I was quoted to add the stock and refinish.

I would love to do the job for you. Its a lot of work. It's not cheap and not fast. In reality we are demilling you gun and rebuilding it. Sometimes price is a concern and I understand that.

Local guy did this for 150.00

I repaired this and installed the side folder. Anyway I am sorry the price was out of your range. I hope yours turns out nice.

The weld cratered when I was cutting the left side, the customer decided it best to leave it as is.
