Are these any good? Was thinking of doing and SBR PTR.
Thoughts?

They are nice. I had a PTR pistol for a short time that I never had any failures with. Magazines are almost free for them it just gets expensive shooting .308.
Any reason for this, besides the cheaper and weaker ammo?

I am looking at buying the PTR pistol with 10" barrel, then getting a stock and stamp...

PTR is decent stuff. They are made on old Portuguese FMP tooling that went from them, to JLD, to PTR (a restructured JLD essentially).
They are essentially HK91 clones made worse by the portuguese and then Americans carried on that tradition. By worse I mean from a quality standpoint. These photos tell a nice story:
I had a full size PTR, and I loved it. If you do SBR it, I recommend a fixed stock and a PCS buffer. It will shoot almost as softly as an AR15 with that buffer.

The 7.62x39 or 300 BO would be a way better option for SBR. The 7.62x39 is roughly 1/3rd of the price of 300 BO.
Your wasting a lot of propellant out of the end of the barrel on a .308 10" barrel and making A LOT of noise. I would like to have another PTR-91 but in rifle length.

This is true, but who doesn't like fireballs and big booms!?
Questions for everyone, any issues with the fluted chamber and reloading the brass? Brass life seriously diminished or unreloadable?
