You did the right thing, Soap. It's always better to back away and shout "cop" type commands, exactly like you did. I would have also told him of my intentions if he came any closer because remember, if you pull it, you have to use it. That way when your in the interrogation room, there will be video and maybe even sound and someone that will come forth as a witness can back up that you gave him a warning before you popped that ass.
