  • got my new gun belt zachsgunbelts

If you guys remember a while back i was looking for a new belt since the guy who made my original one 7-8 years ago no longer makes them.

I ordered a crossbreed one with a new holster and was greatly dissapointed in the finish work. It works fine but the leather feels like it would be a 2-3 year belt vs 7-10.

The zachs belt is nice. On par with the quality of my original. I went with the vinergaroon black and fire red stiching. The buckle is the s3 option. Also oval holes and 3/4 spacing.

He burnished the edges nicely vs crossbreeds nothing.

How thick is the leather? And what did it cost you? Not really interested in buying one but was curious.

1/4 inch or so and 85 plus shipping. All in all i think it was around. 100 bucks since i added double stiching. Its been a few months so i forget

Nice belt, and good thing you got double stitched since it looks like they only did a running stitch.

I should be making my own belt(s) soon. Will post pics of how they turn out...

The guy i rent my farm ground from just had a estate sale. He had two leather machines. Did saddle repair and general leather work. If i had the time id build them since as far as tools go it doesnt take much.

My problem is time. If i can do taxidermy i can glue some leather together and sew haha.

Yeah, my grandfather just recently gave me all of his leather working tools he had amassed over the last 60+ years. He made purses, wallets, photo albums, belts, sheaths, and lots of other just tooled pieces that he framed. I'm just now learning. The basics like making simple belts and stitching is pretty straight forward, the tooling and carving will take a little while before any pieces I do are worthy of showing.

I like this vinegeroon dye as well vs regular stain. I think its just steel wool and vineger put together. It seems to really penetrate the leather.
