Vs death, I'll take the piss water any day. We tend to have droughts around here. just not right now

Plus in good times, just skip the still. Just have it on hand in case water becomes scarce.

I've decided this year instead of getting more firearms to get better optics and some night vision in order to be ready for these types of situations should something really bad happen.

If it came down to it and I really had to run with just two firearms, I'd probably grab my Sig P229 and my Colt AR and call it good. I'm hoping to have a real trijicon ACOG on that Colt soon. I'd probably grab my streamlight TL-1 too and my BOB. I have spare mags, holsters and spare Underwood ammo in my BOB.

I'd like to take 10mm or a Colt 1911 too, but honestly finding ammo for them later on will be harder. I should probably get a 40 cal conversion kit for the 229 and pack that too in case all I can find later on is 40 which is ubiquitous it seems.

a 10mm can fire .40 in a pinch. I wouldn't do it with cast, but if you're using jacketed ammo it's not a problem. It will headspace off the extractor. Reliability and accuracy is fine, as long as you haven't fucked with springs, etc. Not ideal, but it works, and there isn't any danger. if SHTF, a colt delta would be mighty useful with all the speer lawman that will be floating around.

I have a DE now. It needs a lot of work before I trust my life to it or even take it to the range again. If you want to get together and work it over I wouldn't mind the help. It needs a new mainspring and extractor (which I have) and probably a new safety too. It's also the loosest 1911 I've ever seen which I'm guessing has to do with the PO and the loads being shot in it. It could probably use some attention to the slide / frame fit too.

I could easily get .40 barrels for both my G20 and G29 though which is a good idea. But honestly I will never shoot a G anything as well as I can shoot a 1911 or Sig.

That's weird! I bought a new colt DE this year and its the best 1911 Ive owned. Its not loose nor did I have to replace anything and its at around 500 rounds problem free. Unlike my Remington R1, Kimber, and desert eagle that would 3point jam every 50 rounds.

I've never had so much as a jam out of my DE the entire time I've owned it.

Anthony's Delta Elite is an early production model with some home gunsmithing done to it. Looks good, but I would tinker with it if it were mine.

Yes my DE is an '88 or so blue and the PO worked it over or had someone work it over. The main problem is that the safety can be over ridden if you pull the trigger hard enough. I have changed the grip safety and hammer with Wilson parts. A wolff DE specific sear spring is on the way as the sear spring has been worked over too. I'm also looking for a factory Colt safety which seems to be difficult to find. If anyone has one in blue I'd love to get my hands on it.

The slide is super loose. It has a definite "Colt rattle" to it. Some say don't sweat it as long as it locks up well. It seems to lock up just fine.

Once I get the safety working properly and a good sear spring in it, then it will be back to the range time. If it shoots good then it will be time to checker the front strap and have the slide cut for some good sights.

Like I said CJ if you want to look it over I'd appreciate your opinion / help. If not, no big deal.

Yes I probably should've just paid a bit more for a brand new one but I have a strong preference for blue or black guns.

I'm still seriously considering a CZ Dan Wesson 10mm for my next new firearm purchase.

There's not a lot of a point to that. We have enough market substitutes that can shoot a lot of different rounds. You can also get switch cylinders for a S&W or a single action and be way ahead.
