What I found was really funny was the amount of people that were offended they were not included in the planning. At first they were like, yeah you guys are nuts. Then when Ebola landed there were people that really got their feelings hurt they weren't invited to play. Hell even lots of family was excluded. I would rather hang out with my long term friends then my lazy ass family. They should have came up with a plan! Just funny to watch peoples demeanors change because they had no plan and were not invited even after they inquired. Some would even buy supplies and tell me weekly what they got, or hint around at not having any land to go to.Whos your Daddy?

As for cutting into houses with a saw, that wasn't my plan. I'm just saying battery powered saws make it easier after the grid goes down.
Try it on my house I will go into the attic and start perforating the roof with bullets until the sawing stops.
I think anyone making a plan and prepping at all is infinitely better off than most of the masses.
The fat thing is an interesting one. If you are ulta low body fat, you are fucked because you will need food right away and if you ain't got it too bad. If you are way fucking obese getting around is a huge issue. I'd imagine the guys that will make it the longest are in the 15-25% body fat range. Body fat can fuel you for a long time.
And I agree that smarts and prepardness will trump all when the SHTF.
I still think the likelihood of a huge SHTF situation in the US is low as long as my parents are alive. In my lifetime it might happen. In my kids lifetimes though..... almost certainly. This level of government dependence just isn't sustainable.

If you are going to eat meat, be ready to eat dogs and cats. Cows/cattle and other "game" will likely go extinct or become highly rare within the first 6 months after they die off from starvation or being slaughtered. Some will survive, but there will be a massive die-off from the shutdown of the industrial agricultural sector.
Wild pigs will dominate the rural areas. Feral animals will dominate the urban landscape as pets are "set free" or their owners are killed.
Human animals are the reason that people arm themselves. Not hunting. And when it comes to a SHTF, people will be shooting first, questions later - at least at first. People are going to be scared and fearful.
As gasoline disappears and becomes harder to gather and store, it will become more valuable and rarely used except to power generators. Suburbs will be the areas that most people will settle and bunker up, likely in small groups of neighbors. The suburb areas are fairly spread out, so any disturbances will pretty much be limited just due to distance. If you want a true SHTF vehicle, get a bicycle with a lightweight trailer. As long as your legs work you can get from Point A to Point B.
Fully expect fires to be set and destroy entire neighborhoods as people clear land around them. Shit will get medieval as forts/walls and berms are built around small enclaves. If you can't be self-sufficent and grow your own food with limited foraging, you are on the verge of begging and stealing to survive.
But if you are self sufficient, you are going to have to defend against those that want to take what you have.
Urban downtown areas will be an epicenter of murder/rioting/criminal activity at first, then they will raid surrounding areas since they can't survive except on others. eventually they will die off, either killed by each other or by starvation.
The people that bug out of town into the country and hide will have the best long term survival chances IF they can be self sufficient. They'll be able to wait out the urban decay and dieoff. As someone said earlier, it takes at least 2 years to get a working and stable garden in place and working. If you think you'll just show up to a lake house or cabin and plant some potatoes for dinner that later that week - you are going to go hungry and die.

I'd like to buy an apartment complex with a pool and big field if possible at auction, set it up for aquaculture, and slowly enclose it as one big self-contained urban farm, regardless of whether the world ends or not. I just like that kind of shit.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

Then if the SHTF, you start tending all those plants like a real garden, but minimal effort was put into their upkeep until now. I might try it out with some annual garden plants that are known to come back every year. Onions are a good one for that, hell the damn things grow wild here in TX. Even if you get some plants that don't grow back every year, just go head and throw out the seeds. Let the plants grow. Maybe water em if they start dying.
You'd already have the makings of a good garden, and you can also can a bunch of the shit beforehand. With minimal effort put in before the SHTF, I don't think it would be that hard to start gardening for food. No 2 year waiting period if most of it is already just growing out there. Greenhouse would be ideal though for survival, lot less pests to deal with. However, the garden can also be bait for rabbits and deer.
There was also some study done, where they found out that people can live on goats pretty much indefinitely. They breed a lot, they eat any fucking weed they can find, and you can use them for meat, milk, and cheese.WH
