As I've said before, if the metroplex has come to the point of a sudden collapse. Nobody is getting out alive, because the DFW area infrastructure just cant handle the traffic. The region would be clogged with debilitating
car wrecks, causing people to abandon cars and roam the neighborhoods in an attempt to escape and/or hide.

I agree with Yale for once, guns would be a small part of survival, yet people focus on them the most

Im also burning all the grocery and sporting goods stores, and any other place people think they can hole up in and outlast any such catastrophic event. Because nobody is going to survive an event that requires evacuating the metroplex. So unless you've got an underground bunker with 5-10 years of food, water, and something to pass the time your going die.

I'm especially shooting people wearing urban or any other fashion camo

You need a place to hold up for a year. Estimates are about 80% die off in the first year, especially for something like an emp. If you can out live that 80% you just increased your chances a bit more. Or walk around for 30 years pretending to be Eli. Whatever.

Ive always figured that the first month will be the most important to survive. Thats when all the morons will die or kill each other off. Most people outside of a month and a half will be the people that somewhat have something figured out.
And I've never understood the mentality of "I need guns so I can take that guys food and water". First off...that guy probably has guns too, and you think you're gonna go to his house, dehydrated and hungry, and waltz out with his shit? I'll be happily collecting your ammo after you try to come into my place and rob us.
If its true shtf, I agree with most other people...hold your ground. $200 in freeze dried food will get you much further than a $1500 gun by just waiting people out. AR is a good option as well as a 12ga auto loader for close quaryers.
Learn to garden... It's not hard. Buy some nice fishing gear and supplies. Learn a bit more about actual survival and realize that the guns wont be the absolute key to survival.

All true. But you're forgetting about the survival instinct. Who's going to catch a bullet? Whoever is in that house, has the advantage. You don't know where they are, but they damn sure know where you are. How many of you are going to die before you kill that one person who's defending their food? You can do it, at the cost of no telling how many lives. All for who knows how much food.
Or, there are 12 armed men in there, just not making their presence known. And when you make that attempt, you and whoever is with you dies. Or there are lethal traps inside and the person isn't even home and you can't even find where they hid the food. You can't just say "Oh a house is no protection" because in many cases its a deathtrap for whoever is trying to take the house. Or, you can be smart, and go hunting and find other, much safer means of getting food. Like one member said, all these types of things are going to kill off the stupid rather quickly. All you have to do is outlast them. The smart aren't looking for looting and slaughter, the smart are looking to come together and reform some manner of society and stability. Isn't that what you'd rather see happen?
Originally posted by John -- '02 HAWK View PostWhat community? If the DFW area is evacuating all law and order will goto shit. Evacuees will constantly flood any community, welcoming them in will create a larger burden on already strained resources, and dismissing them can lead to hostility. Approaching a strange community will also likely get the evacuees robbed of any resources they have, and possibly killed.
Well for one, after its all over, there are going to be people left. What about all the people who couldn't make it out, or simply refused to leave their homes? As we see in the cases of many natural disasters. Many of the evacuees are going to die, as they're going to be the types we've already discussed. Still there would be hoards of them, that might have to be gunned down by the "community" in order for it to survive. These evacuees would do best to just form their own community out in the middle of nowhere, or in some abandoned area.
Secondly, those of us who live in small towns are much more easily going to form these communities.WH
