  • Which would you choose for BO if SHTF.

I am looking to buy a new gun/rifle and am looking at 2 that i cant seem to choose between. I have a pretty good assortment right now and all current ones have fairly specific purposes.
I want this purchase to fulfill the what if I had to grab a few things and bug out scenario. My 300 blackout would have limited usefulness as ammo would run out and be hard to find. My pistols have limited range and low capacity.
So what I am looking at is either a FN PS90 with 50 rd mags or a Kel-tec sub 2000 in 40 cal and glock mags.
The PS90 has similar ammo issues to my 300 blackout but it holds more per mag and ammo is lighter so I could feasibly carry a lot more. It has good range and can exhibit good penetration.
The Kel-tec seems like the more sensible choice as it is half the price and so is ammo. You can find 40 s & w just about anywhere and it isn't 60 cents a shot. Range is limited but with the 16" barrel it is much better than a 3.5" pistol.

Both are super short and will fit in a duffle bag.
If you were to choose one as a BOB gun, which would it be and why? Would you choose something else instead?

Ps90, stock up on ammo. One of my favorite guns.

-Complains about scarcity of ammunition with 300 blackout
-Proposes to use a PS90 instead

Basically it is foolish to choose anything except a compact, light AR15. Ammunition, parts, magazines, etc. are and will be everywhere. Plan accordingly.

        And then get a FN 5 7.

Pistol and rifle that shoot the same ammo!

I addressed that in my post. 5.7 is quite a bit lighter than my subsonic 300 BO. Can carry 3 times the ammo for the same weight.

I would absolutely start off with my SBR ar with 300 upper and 556 upper (8.5" and 7.5" respectively).
I do like Crazie's suggestion though...

So… What happens when you run out of ammo and you are in the boonies?

IMO, if you want caliber commonality between your handgun and your long gun, absolute silence, and ludicrous reliability, then get an MP5 or clone with a can.

Me: Hi, guys. I was thinking about getting a new car. Should I get a loaded Accord or a Mustang GT?

Dohctr: If you want absolute luxury and ludicrous speed, then get a Veyron.

This is exactly why I have the option there for the Sub 2000. I can get it in 9mm or 40 which is what pretty much everyone carries or has in their home. I would love to have an MP5 but it's too much budget for this scenario. Trying to stay under $1200.

My 300 and 556 are both suppressed and short so they may still be the best option.

... You know clones are $1400 and under right?

I did a quick google search as I've never priced them out. All the ones I saw were in the $2500 range. I didn't do too much digging.

Ar15 for the reasons doc mentioned, plus you just said you have a 556 can so that is a no-brainer. Every time you go to walmart for groceries, grab a few boxes of 556 and stock up on ammo that way. Or reload. Or both. Don't go with a pistol caliber carbine; pistol caliber handguns have their role, and rifle caliber rifles have theirs. Don't try to cut corners or force a caliber into a role it isnt designed for. And on that thought, a 12 gauge shotgun with an 18inch barrel and 6-8 round tube fed magazine is quite versatile and ammo is fucking everywhere.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

I haven't seen any clones under $1400. Most are $1400 to $1850 for the "K" version.
My dad us currently building one from a kit from hkparts. Has over $2k in the kit plus jigs and supplies. He also has a clone.

My dad has the POF clone from Atlantic. Seems well built. He considered SBR 'ing it but the HK stock won't bolt up. The cap will not go on far enough for the pins to line up.

A lot of folks have SBRed them. That sounds like a very unusual problem.
